The sorrows of laughing anne

Exhibition 12 to 15 April 2012

The sorrows of laughing anne

Penni Pierce, Frances Williams and Tony Foster at The Electrician's Basement, Trinity Buoy Wharf

A collection of original art installations using film, sound and objects,

'Titled after a character from the 1970's comic Mandy, this multimedia exhibition features work which respondes to contained situations of ambivalence and uncertainty, heading off the resulting spilage.'

Attended the Private view along with friends (fellow graduates from UCA Canterbury) to support Penni alongside Tony and Franky. Great industrial setting for the collection of installations that ranged from projection, Mavis Diptych (video stills), archive stills brought together by their absent curator Mavis Passmore. Video installation shows the interaction of two people across a dining table, exploring emotion through metaphors. Sound installation formed from usually ignored background noises, pipes carry their echoes.
