Project

Hi its only been a few days since I last posted on here but I thought I would show what I have been working on recently. I have not completed it yet as still in progress, as I work with oils I tend to paint wet in wet and also when dry, so need to wait a few days to dry out before progressing onto my next stage. I am still interested in portraying narratives and have recently been researching the tale of 'Little Red Riding Hood'. The book Little Red Riding Hood Uncloaked, sex, morality, and the evolution of a fairy tale,  by Catherine Orenstein. I have found this book really interesting as Catherine narrates the reader through history the tales journey, of being re-written and interpreted to suit its cultural and social surroundings within that time-line.  Cherie

Hi I have been a bit quite on here but have been keeping myself busy painting and researching. As part of developing myself for when I leave the MA course, I have decided to enter Art competitions that are of interest for me. I recently entered a Daily Mail portrait of the Queen competition of which the successful applicant would have their work displayed for a day at the National Portrait Gallery, Jubilee Exhibition. Unfortunately I was not successful but I am not deterred from entering any competitions in the future that appeal to me. This is the portrait I produced for the competition, oil and resin on canvas, 30cm x 30cm.
